Just getting started
Well, I did it. I had my surgery on the 13th of November and find each day I have questions I never realized I’d have. I’m curious, are other people as uncomfortable where the port is located and does that pass? I assume being less than two weeks post surgery isn’t a great judge of the future.
I had my surgery mid November…my first fill on 7 Jan and have lost 20 lbs. I must say I’m so pleased, but must also admit it’s not been easy.
I think I’m most surprised by the level of mental challenge this has been compared to the physical challenge. I find myself really having to question how much I eat and why I was eating so much in the past. Sitting down at a restaurant for the first time was challenging, since a normal meal would have been appetizer, meal and desert….now it’s no appetizer a partial meal and if I choose a couple bites of someone else’s desert. It seems harder to break the habits than fight the hunger.

I’m seven months post surgery and feel great. It has taken this long to start to get used to the smaller portions…it has been getting easier, but mentally still a challenge of breaking the habit.
The weight loss has been slow, but that works for me. I am not starving myself, I’m eating whatever I want essentially as far as food choices and I feel like it’s more likely to stay off in the long run.
